Here are ten band gig, or show, posters. Old or new gig posters can always be used as inspiration. They usually have some great typography elements, nice use of colors, and interesting imagery. I never really thought about looking at gig posters for inspiration until a recent trip to Nashville, Tennessee. There were posters everywhere down there. Hatch Show Print posters are found all over in Nashville. I'm only showing ten posters, but there are literally thousands of gig posters out there. Some of these are Hatch Show Print and some are ones I found at GigPosters.com or GIGART.com.

Here is a quick look at 6 different blogs that are very stylish. All of these blogs have a very creative design to them – inspirational indeed.

Loon Design

Full of great creative illustrations. The character in the header and the rss icon in the cauldron – very well done. Each section on the sidebar has its own custom graphic as well. The search illustration is clever – a map and compass.

The top half of the blog.

The footer area of the blog.

Blog Spoon Graphics

Creative header and rss areas – nice design. The footer is nice with the overlapping textured paper look and a nice illustration above it.

The top half of the blog.

The footer area of the blog.

abduzeedo

A new design over at abduzeedo – 'Lost in space'. Nice favicon. Good looking header and footer – incorporates the space theme in both.

The top half of the blog.

The footer area of the blog.

Blog Design Blog

Included mostly for the header image – a nice piece. The date image for each post is nice as well. The footer is pretty normal. The repeating background image fits well with the design.

The top half of the blog.

The footer area of the blog.

farfromfearless

Very creative nature theme. The shades of green are nice and the active-page image for the navigation is a nice touch. The footer is setup nicely and you should definitely check out the comments section.

The top half of the blog.

The footer area of the blog.

Kulturbanause

Extremely creative design. Really one of the best looking designs around. Very impressive and detailed work.

The top half of the blog.

The footer area of the blog.

Here are a few great sites for logo design inspiration.

logosauce: "To free logos from the hidden depths of the designers hard-drive. To expose logos great and small to the world for comment and adoration. To inspire great and fantastic logo design. To give logos their provenance and lastly to show people the path to enlightenment and more importantly to the source of the very logo artwork itself!" (from their about page)

A good selection of logos to browse through, nicely organized as well. They also have a competitions page where you have a chance to win money for your logo design skills.

LogoPond: A nice site with plenty of logos to check out. You can browse by popular and featured logos which is nice. They also have a job board, articles section, and resources section. The resources page has a list of books and fonts that you might check out.

It looks like they have recently redesigned the site because there seems to be some problems when viewing it in a smaller browser window. This makes navigating around a bit annoying – nobody likes to scroll horizontally. Still worth the look though.

lo8os: "Lo8os is a logo gallery and graphic design community. Our goal is to share design ideas, and inspire."

A little busier than the other previous two sites. I do like the gallery page(not the design so much, but the category idea). The logos are separated into albums – like Typography, Shapes, Enclosures and Crests, and others. It's a different way to look through logos – a little more specific than others. The selection is OK – not the greatest – it doesn't look like there have been any new submissions for awhile.

LogoBlog: "Logo Blog is dedicated to giving you unbiased, reliable and independent user based reviews and advice about Logos, and Logo Design Companies. Our Logo Design Company Directory is an extensive database of US based and International Logo Design Companies." (from their about page)

The link is actually to a blog post titled "Design Inspiration: 56 Most Creative Logos" – but the site itself has a lot of good information about logo design. It is definitely worth a look. They have a blog, a design directory of logos, a logo glossary, articles on building corporate identity through logo design – a great resource for anyone looking to design a logo or to find someone to design a logo for you or your business.

Everyone runs out of ideas at some point in time. And imitation is the sincerest form of flattery right. Well, here are four sites you can browse when you need some design inspiration.

csswebsite: "Css Website is an innovative gallery of simple websites. Its purpose is to showcase designer’s work and to expand the CSS design community. We propose a classification by color and contents for a better usability." (from their About page)
They have a nice assortment of web sites to gain inspiration from. You can browse by Color, by Content, by Date, or just type in a search term. They also allow you to rate each site 1 to 5 stars.

BestWebGallery: "Best Web Gallery is an inspirational gallery site where we collect a wide range of quality design websites (Flash & CSS). What is quality design means to us? Quality Design = Visual + Technical + Creativity" (from their About page)
A little nicer design than the previous site. When you hover over the image of the site a bigger preview pops up. Good selection – they have both flash and CSS sites. You can change the layout of the gallery and sort through the different sites using category tags. I did not see a rating system.

CSSdrive: This site is really more than just a gallery site. They do have a CSS web site gallery along with a CSS menu gallery. Both are nice and have a wide selection of pieces to view. You can view the sites by Two columns, Three columns, Mixed cols and rows, Clean & Clear, Dark or Black, High Contrast/ Impact, Corporate/ Professional, Unconventional Designs, Liquid layouts, Web Design Firms, Our Favorites, What's popular, and finally Last 20 submissions. A lot to choose from. The menu categories are Horizontal Menus, Vertical Menus, and Multiple/ Nested Levels. There is a rating system in place – little red squares from 1 to 10. Like I said, there is more to this site then just the gallery. They also have design news, examples of CSS (including the code), and forums.

CSSRemix: "CSS Remix celebrates the dynamic innovation and creativity of designers who are on the forefront of CSS-based web design. This community honors those designers who aren't afraid to think outside-the-box, and who are reinventing our ideas of what great web design can—and should—be.

CSS Remix was created to present the latest techniques in visual presentation, user experience, and site coding to the web design community in a simple and effective manner. The focus is on what you actually want: the sites. No frills. No frou frou—maybe an ad or two—but thats it." (from their About page).
Not much to say after that – Very nice selection of sites to look at. They also have an area at the bottom where it will display a random site every time you hit the Randomize button. They have a rating system as well – 1 to 5.
